Bird hunters Africa offer something unique, a diversity of excellent game birds both driven and walked up over Labradors and pointers plus superb wild fowling with the added incentive of hunting in beautiful South Africa.

Game bird Species.
Francolines, equivalent to our pheasant, guinea fowl, partridge, sand grouse, pigeons, doves. Francolines are shot over English pointers on the edges of grain fields. Guineafowl are presented to the guns in the European driven fashion, this is highly challenging shooting and the chants and songs of the Zulu beaters add to the exciting atmosphere of the shoot. As in the UK , Pigeons & doves fly into harvested grain fields in a steady stream usually
In the afternoons. The pigeons decoy very well.

Wild fowl Species.
Geese, The Spurwing Goose the worlds largest goose is shot along with the smaller Egyptian Goose out of blinds over a spread of silhouette decoys. The Spurwing ganders average around 18 pounds.

Ducks, yellow billed duck, Red billed Teal and white faced duck are the main three species we shoot out of thatch blinds over decoys on the edge of small marshes and ponds.

Game birds and waterfowl are shot during each Safari and within close distance to the lodge, this is not A hot barrel hunt, good steady shooting is the order of the day.

Our hunting area is situated in the farming district of Dundee, Northern Kwazulu Natal an area rich for grain growing and consequently holding an excellent variety of game birds and water fowl.

Accommodation is in our comfortable Lodge ( Zulu Wings ) run purely for bird shooting safaris. All rooms are en suit, during your stay you will have a chance to feast on a whole variety of game you have taken during your safari as well as traditional South African dishes prepared to perfection by our lodge chef and served with fine wines from the Cape.

Other activities included in your Safari.
Excursions: trips to Zulu battle fields, the Drakensburg, the big five game reserves, a day game fishing with guide, cultural villages, curio shopping and much more.
There is a superb rural 18 hole golf course built in the 18th century close to the lodges.

Season and Weather
The bird season runs from the end of May through to September the best wild fowling period, these are South Africa‘s winter months, you can expect frosty mornings midday temperatures are warm up to the low 70’s it is also the dry season with clear skies, evenings are pleasant but cool.

Hunting guests.
Parties of six to eight guns are normally catered for. Wives or non-hunting guests are more than welcome. A programme for the ladies can be arranged at a small extra cost for transport. A maximum of 12 guests can be catered for.

Your arrival destination is Johannesburg International Airport where you will be met by our rep who will help you through customs and transfer you to our lodge at Zulu wings. The drive is about three and a halve hours through some of the most beautiful scenery with the chance to see various game animals of the area.

Terms & Conditions.
Bookings will be secured on payment of a 50% deposit, The balance is due on arrival at the Lodge.

All deposits less expenses will be refunded if the safari Is cancelled, provided the safari can be re booked.

Payments must be made in cash, Travellers checks or certified bank draft. Bank charges arising from the transfer of funds will be payable by the client.

The safari is based on a maximum of 15 days or 10 days, a minimum of 7 days can be arranged.

BIG GAME HUNTING
The Shikar daily price is formed on an “All Inclusive“ basis and it considers professional assistance, road transport and full board while hunting and/or traveling to/from the hunting area, starting and finishing in Tehran.
Although all different combinations are possible and will be quoted at your request, the basic program consists of a minimum of seven days shikar, aprox. two traveling and five hunting, for every single major trophy (hunting traveling days are at half price).
Extra hunting days should be considered accordingly when there is specific interest in obtaining more trophies, aside from the main one, in the same area or when hunting in very distant areas or in more than one reserve. Lodging will be provided in the Reserve’s Guest House (tented camp when necessary )or in the best local Hotel available.
NOTE: Sometimes the hunt may take place between 3-4000 meters altitude. Therefore, Good physical conditions are required as in any Sheep Hunt.

Thankerton game reserve is charged with the mission of conserving and Enhancing The Bio-Diversity of the Reserves Ecosystem and to realizing its full Economic Potential on a Sustainable Basis.

Sound ecological principles are applied to the management of the veld and wild life resources and personnel are dedicated to providing hunters and their guests with a professional and customized hunting and hospitality.

In addition to the sole concession on the Reserve , we have concessions and hunting agreements on Selati Nature Reserve and other properties throughout Southern Africa and are able to secure hunts for most species available in the country including the big five; lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino.

Hunts are conducted under personal supervision of our licensed professional hunters at a maximum capacity of two hunt clients per professional hunter.

Appropriate transportation is provided and hunters are assisted by skilled native trackers. Target practice is catered for and all equipment requirements and taxidermy services can be arranged with prior notice.

IBEX (Capra aegahrrus)
All of these are in the south of Turkey in Mediterranean region, accommodation in hunting camps, caves, villagers homes or hotels in hunting area. Tickets should be made out to Antalya via Istanbul. Hunting dated are between August 1 - December 31 and all March, the best period is mid, November to late December, the rutting period.

Asian Brown Bear (Ursus actors):
Hunting are is also Yusufeli - Artvin which is North East part of Turkey, very close to GEORGIA. Usually 7 nights Yusufeli, 5 days hunting and 2 Days reconnoitring. Accommodation in hunting lodge, camps or villages homes. Tickets should made out to Erzurum. Transportation will be provided by SAFARI TOURS LTD. Hunting dates are between August 1- December 31 and all March.

CHAMOIS (Rupicapra rupicapra)
Hunting area is also Yusufeli - Artvin, on Kackar Mountain. Hunting altitute is between 2.000 - 3.000 m (6.500 - 9.800 feet). Usually 7 nights at hunting area in hunting lodge (some lodge as bear), villagers homes or hunting camps and 5 days hunting. Tickets should be made to Erzurum. Transportation will be provided by SAFARI TOURS LTD. Hunting dates are betwwen August 1- December 31 and all March.

ANATOLIAN WILD BOAR HUNT
