Arrival
day is Sunday. We suggest you arrive as early as possible. Guests
will be met at Aberdeen or Inverness airport and taken to your accommodation
to settle in and discuss the weeks programe, which includes a check
group fired by each rifle to ensure weapons have not been mishandled
during transit.
Stalking for a party of between four and six rifles is normal however
a larger party would require an early booking in order to make the
necessary arrangements. Non hunting guests are more than welcome
to enjoy the peace and quiet and visit the many beauty spots and
quality shops to be found in the surrounding towns and villages,
a hire car is recommended so guests have freedom to tour at their
own convenience.
Hunting
Our main theme is Roe Buck Stalking - This being the most popular
and demanding species to hunt here in Scotland. Most of our clients
take 4 to 5 animals, the variation in trophy size up to medal bucks
tends to encourage clients to take this amount. Roe stalking takes
place during the first and last hours of daylight, outings are conducted
over a period of 3 to 4 hours, morning stalking is done mainly on
foot. The evening stalk occasionally ends by sitting in a high seat.
Each rifle is allocated a stalker on a one to one basis for a total
of 10 outings. The stalkers decisions and instructions during stalking
are final.
Roe
Buck hunting period:
May is our opening month as this is when all the bucks are clean
of velvet. The hunting period runs from the third week in May through
to the start of August.
Sika, Red and Roe deer stalking:
Our Red Stags tend to start the last week in September through
to the third week in October (Rut period). The standard of a trophy
varies greatly. The hunting is a constant challenge in what can
be difficult terrain. However, some very fine heads have been taken
over the years even the occasional Royal Stag. All animals are native
Scottish stags. There are no imported park stags, Hind Sika and
Roe doe stalking is available on request.
Wild Goats:
Stalking wild goats has become very popular and is available
should clients wish to take the occasional day. Some very impressive
heads have been taken over the past few seasons.
Driven or walked up game:
Pheasants, grouse, partridge, woodcock and snipe can be offered
as walked up days or in driven days depending on availability.
Rough and mixed shooting is also on offer, game would include pheasants,
partridge, woodcock, snipe, hares, rabbits, mallard and teal duck.
One or two evening flights for geese, mallard, widgeon and teal
can be arranged as part of your sporting week.
All the above are subject to availability.
